Roadside Picnic by the Sturgatsky brothers is a book that has 3 psudo adaptations (Сталкер/Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky, Parties are for losers by Ferry, and the Stalker video game series). This is my musing on why in all of them (with the exception of the video game series for which I have no familiarity with), someone always brings a gun into the zone.
